burstsight

Failure prediction for water and sewer networks

See the burst before it happens.

BurstSight traces every main in your network, learns from your own failure history, and shows exactly where the next failures are likely to be. Hosted in Brisbane.

Engineering-backed. Methodology led by a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).

Renewal budgets are fixed. Failures aren’t.

Renewing by age alone spends money on old pipes that are still sound, while younger mains in a bad cohort keep failing. Rank the same street by risk and the order changes. So does where the money goes.

Funded with the same budget (three renewals) Main moves up when ranked by risk Hover a main to trace it.

From GIS export to renewal list in an afternoon

No new systems to install. BurstSight works from the data you already keep in GIS and your maintenance system.

Step 1

Add your data

Drop a GIS export, spreadsheet or GeoPackage of your mains into your data library, with failure history from work orders. Each file is checked before anything uses it.

Step 2

Map and validate

Join the files and match their columns once, on one schematic. Gaps, bad codes and duplicates are flagged before anything runs.

Step 3

Run calibrated models

Likelihood, consequence and renewal models tuned to your asset classes and failures, with every input and version recorded.

Step 4

Act on it

Explore results on maps and dashboards, merge programs into one works plan, then export to GIS, Excel, CSV or a board-ready PDF.

From likelihood to one works plan

Four models that chain together. Likelihood and consequence make risk, risk drives the works planner, and the composite merges every network’s program into one plan that digs each trench once.

Built by engineers, for engineers

BurstSight was founded by BurstSight was created after many years modelling assets. What I found was software was a strange combination of being too generic but also too restrictive at the same time. BurstSight combines all my years of wants and wishes into true off the shelf products. In addition, you get me - a Chartered Engineer and RPEQ - to guide you through the process and get results in a matter of hours!. Every result carries its own provenance, so it can stand up in a capital plan or a regulator’s question.
